What is bespoke? Let’s take a moment to explain – bespoke is custom made. It is unique and individual to the person who designs it. So A1Class are a bespoke carpentry and joinery company.

We don’t just install kitchens and wardrobes that are ready-made and off the shelf. We will make what you draw or describe to your specifications and measurements.

In addition to general carpentry, Mark spent most years of his apprenticeship in a joinery shop enabling him to make things from scratch as well as fit them. Totally proficient in both carpentry & joinery, he can make pretty much anything from wood.

The contractors that we use are qualified in their trade.

Bespoke Restoration

Mark has the ability to restore existing windows and doors on period properties so that they can maintain their original features. We recently undertook the restoration of all of the windows of a period property over 100 years old.

After spending a few years in a joinery shop, he is adept at stripping down and repairing sash windows including re-hanging weights, lubricating pulleys, replacing cord. For a complete refurb, this will involve box cutting any caulk and paint, removing any old nails and screws.

Then replacing damaged stops, re-level frames affected by years of moisture and swelling, remove any debris, rot etc. Once this is complete, then re-fill using an epoxy or putty, rub down and paint. This restoration will return your property to its former glory.

Bespoke Storage Solutions

Do you dream of that window seat that you have always wanted but you are concerned about using up that space? We can create the perfect storage window seat so that you have the best of both. A great relaxation area to settle down with your new book and a large storage area to hide all of your knick-knacks.

We can create bespoke designed cupboard frontals to fit in with your existing décor, or something totally unique to you. Take a look at this recent project where the doors are all made of timber in a Herringbone design. The customer wanted something to fit in with his flooring and he was really pleased with the outcome.

The door you see below styled as a wall-length mirror is a hidden door. If you have a room in your house you want to keep all to yourself, a secret door can work for you. It also works well as the entrance to a walk-in wardrobe where a mirror is a must for dressing and hidden behind are all of your clothes and shoes.

We can also build pocket doors, where your home is restricted by the swing of a traditional hinged door but you still need that privacy, a pocket door is a clever way of having both that privacy you need and the space that you desire. It slides into the adjacent wall compartment on a track and completely disappears.

This catafalque (decorated wooden framework used to support a coffin) is another of our projects requested by our local crematorium. The existing one was looking old and tired so we designed a new one to ensure everything looked perfect, just the way it should.  Did you know that a catafalque was constructed in haste to hold Abraham Lincolns casket in State?

Bespoke Fitted Wardrobes and Units

Bespoke wardrobes made-to-measure and affordable to suit your budget; we offer a complete wardrobe service from design and planning to the finished article. Whether you are looking for us to build and fit-out a walk-in wardrobe or fit-out an existing room to convert it to a walk-in wardrobe, we can accommodate your storage ideas. Looking to install functional flooring into the walk-in area or bedroom? We can help with that too.

You can choose as many rails, shelves and drawer units that suit your needs. We fit the handles that you choose so that your wardrobe is as unique as you are. We have recently fit-out an extension in the loft space with bespoke angled wardrobes and eaves storage to maximise the use of all of the floor space.

Once we have discussed the design and you are happy with your choices, we will order materials and make a date in the diary to get your wardrobes created. All our wardrobes are handmade, in a bespoke design by our skilled and qualified Carpenter and Joiner.

We were asked back by our client after fitting a kitchen, to create a bespoke storage area with lift-up flaps in a bay window where space in the house was limited. The client also wanted this to double up as a window seat so that it would accommodate her love of reading. The results and testimonial speak for themselves.
